Long Beach Regional Transit Network

I've had a little trouble composing my thoughts of late, but have been refining my ideas for transit in Long Beach. I've come up with five suggestions of various scope.

1) Harbor Subdivision to Cal Poly Long Beach via Pacific Coast Highway: Rather than routing the Harbor Subdivision to downtown Long Beach, it could instead continue east through a tunnel under the PCH to Los Alamitos circle before terminating at the Cal Poly Long Beach campus. This crosstown alignment, similar to the Bloor-Danforth subway line in Toronto, would serve as a crosstown link between Orange County and the South Bay, with Long Beach at the center. East of the LA River, trains would enter a tunnel underneath the PCH, connect with the Blue Line, and foster development of the PCH corridor.

2) Long Beach Boulevard Transit Corridor: Study increased traffic and left turn restrictions along Long Beach Boulevard south of 10th, Anaheim, and the PCH. This would be similar to San Francisco's recent partial closures of Market Street to car traffic. Restricting Long Beach Boulevard could facilitate movement of buses, trains, and commercial vehicles through the corridor. It could also improve the corridor's walkability and strengthen downtown's transit advantage.

3) Long Beach/Alamitos Center BRT: This BRT line would follow the same route as the Long Beach Transit 103 line, but extend both ends of that route and serve limited stops. Outbound buses would follow the Long Beach Boulevard Transit Corridor north to the PCH where it would pick up the 103 line's route. Along the way, it would stop at Bixby Knolls, Bixby Terrace, Long Beach City College, and Lakewood Mall. The route would continue to the Los Alamitos Center via South Street, where it would connect with Metro 577x.

4) Eastern Regional Express routes: Integrate and market Metro line 577x (to Los Cerritos Center, Norwalk, and El Monte) and OCTA line 60 (to Westminister, Santa Ana, and Tustin) as components of Long Beach's regional transit network. The new Harbor Subdivision station at Cal Poly North Beach would anchor these two eastern regional lines and link them to the PCH corridor and the South Bay.

5) Airport connector: Shuttle service would connect Long Beach Airport with the Harbor Subdivision (at Los Alamitos Circle) and Long Beach/Alamitos Center BRT (at Long Beach City College).
